Job Description: Child Welfare Social Worker
Position Summary:
The Child Welfare Social Worker is responsible for providing comprehensive social work services to children and families involved in the child welfare system. The primary objective of this role is to ensure the safety, well-being, and permanency of children by conducting assessments, developing and implementing intervention plans, and coordinating services with various stakeholders. The Child Welfare Social Worker will collaborate with community resources and agencies to support families in achieving positive outcomes.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families involved in the child welfare system, including gathering relevant information, identifying needs, and determining appropriate interventions.
2. Develop and implement intervention plans focused on promoting child safety, well-being, and permanency.
3. Provide counseling and support to children and families, addressing issues such as abuse, neglect, substance abuse, mental health, and domestic violence.
4. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including law enforcement, schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations to coordinate services and support.
5. Monitor and evaluate the progress of intervention plans, making necessary adjustments to achieve desired outcomes.
6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case documentation in accordance with agency policies and legal requirements.
7. Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and court hearings, providing professional recommendations and testimony when needed.
8. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards related to child welfare and social work practice.
9. Provide crisis intervention and emergency services as required, ensuring child safety and well-being.
10. Stay informed about current research, best practices, and developments in the field of child welfare and social work, applying relevant knowledge to practice.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work or a related field from an accredited institution.
2. State licensure or certification as a Social Worker (if applicable).
3. Proven experience in child welfare or a related field, demonstrating a solid understanding of child development, family dynamics, and trauma-informed practices.
4. Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to child welfare and social work practice.
5. Excellent assessment, intervention, and case management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
6. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with diverse populations and work collaboratively with stakeholders.
7. Proficiency in utilizing technology and case management systems for documentation and data management.
8. Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
9. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
10. Strong ethical standards and commitment to promoting the well-being and rights of children.
